About Us
Discipleship Africa...
is a ministry of Jericho Road Ministries (JRM). Jericho Road Ministries is a 501c3 non-profit organization, founded in the mid 1990’s by Eddie Napps out of a personal desire to partner with others to honor God through obedience to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
When Jesus was asked in Matthew 22:36 which is the greatest commandment in the Law, He responded by saying “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind”, then He went on to say “The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Then in the story of the Good Samaritan, found in Luke 10, Jesus tells us that our neighbor is anyone that we meet on the road of life, The Jericho Road! As we seek to have compassion for others, we are ever mindful that the greatest compassion we can have for anyone is compassion for their soul, thus we take up the charge of the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19 and “Go therefore and make disciples…”!
In several mission trips to Africa in 2003, Eddie Napps noticed poverty, sickness and death of the people of Zambia, yet he saw they had a tremendous openness to the Gospel! Virtually all that heard the Gospel made a decision for Christ! But while there is a great openness to the Gospel, there is also a great need for discipleship equipping to help the people grow spiritually and become true disciples - Great Commission Christians who will evangelize and disciple their countrymen.
Through God’s leading, Eddie Napps, President of Jericho Road Ministries, discovered a method for evangelism and discipleship training that utilizes Emmaus Bible correspondence courses. The current method of choice for distribution of these courses abroad is the Emmaus Bible Centers Method (EBC). This method of distribution trains and empowers nationals to operate a Bible Center out their own home and reach out and evangelize and disciple their countrymen for Christ. Millions of Emmaus courses have been distributed throughout the world using the Emmaus Bible Centers method.
In mid 2004, after prayerful consideration Eddie was appointed Zambia Emmaus National Director and empowered to take the Emmaus Bible Centers method to Zambia, a country of 10 to 12 million.
Emmaus Bible Study Course

The Emmaus Bible Correspondence Course School commenced in 1942 in Toronto, Canada, as a non-denominational, evangelical ministry of helping young people to study the Word of God. Soon missionaries began to take these courses to their mission fields, and they translated them into other languages. Over the years more courses were written to include evangelistic and discipleship courses as well as in-depth studies on every book in the New Testament and some in the Old Testament. Topical studies on Baptism, Marriage, Personal Evangelism, Preaching, etc., were included, as well as Old and New Testament Surveys.
God has blessed this ministry and, today, there are nearly 70 titles of Emmaus courses available in one hundred twenty three languages with Emmaus offices in over 100 countries around the world. Since these courses are non-denominational, many different evangelical churches, individual missionaries and ministries use the Emmaus courses in outreach as well as in discipling new believers. Many people have trusted Christ as Savior over the years as a result of studying the Word of God through the courses.
The Emmaus Courses themselves are a simple presentation of the Bible, its principles and its offer of hope and eternal life. They will take non-believers and inexperienced Christians on a path of spiritual growth and renewal. Emmaus Bible Centers were established to allow students to engage in a serious study of the Bible under the direction of a trained Bible Center Corrector, who may be a neighbor, a friend, or a fellow church member. The Corrector will issue the courses and grade or correct them. The most important role of the Bible Center Corrector is to encourage the student on the path to becoming a true disciple of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
